A Minnesota Barnwood Story
The wood was salvaged in 2019 from a barn in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Constructed in 1947, the barn used timber from trees cleared or harvested on the land.
According to the maker’s account, most of those trees began growing in the late 1800s. Based on the widths of some species, the maker estimates that some began growing as early as the late 1700s or early 1800s.
The salvaged lumber includes red and white oak, including bur oak; silver, sugar, and birdseye maple; American elm; boxelder; poplar; pine; and other species. Wood species vary, making every finished board a small piece of history and a natural conversation starter.
