Wood with History

The maker salvaged the lumber from a barn in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, in 2019. Built in 1947, the barn used timber from trees on the land. According to the maker’s account, most began growing in the late 1800s, with some estimated from their widths to date to the late 1700s or early 1800s.

The salvaged lumber includes red and white oak, including bur oak; silver, sugar, and birdseye maple; American elm; boxelder; poplar; pine; and other species. Grain, color, and wood species vary from board to board.
